Founded in 1993, and shortly after a center focus of controversy over graffiti on the wall of the store. What the haters had intended as an attempt to create negative publicity for BANNED SKATE SHOP, worked adversely - It put us on the map overnight. It was a time when the rave scene was big, and so were the pants.
Our first website and online store also went on air in 1993. For those who are too young to know what this means is: People did not know what web sited were for yet. There were NO emails. “what is a web site?”, or “what is it for? “ was a common question. Well that explains the rarity of having a one word domain BANNED.COM. No we are not selling it, ha, ha..
When in Southern California, come in to one our retail locations. We would like to meet you in person and show you around. We have many additional brands in our brick-n- mortar stores then we have online. A company created for skateboarders with the aim of providing fun in skateboarding with the best equipment and latest technology.
Our staff, that we call family, comes from many realms and cultural backgrounds and no one cares (only if you are flying commercial airlines and your pilot graduated from the Mexican Air force, (Carlos swears he’s Brazilian and not Mexican; David Lee swears he is Polish and not Mexican, and so on.. you get the idea street skateboarding, fashion, long boarding. We have locations in Redlands and Moreno Valley at the Moreno Valley Mall, California. Our scope of coverage, and greater family, includes the USA, Brazil, Europe, Australia, New Zeeland, Russian Federation and Lithuania ( yes a shout to all the Lithuania ladies, we have warm spot on our hears for you , aha).
BANNED is like a local bar, but without liquor, where every one stops by to chat, hangout, and to get new t-shirt or shoes. Someone once said, we are here to make friends not money.
We are home to many famous skaters like Adelmo Jr, my fellow countryman, Marvin Vicks, Sunny Sous, Joey Brezinski, Steven Webb, Chris Mendes and regular faces like Marc Johnson and Kenny Anderson, who lived in town and stopped by for bearings and chat.
